Our Autism Treatment Center Helps Nationwide

If you are familiar with autism, you know that autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has a wide array of conditions associated with it. These can range from repetitive behaviors to challenges with speech, communication, and social skills. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is estimated that nearly 1 in 59 children has been identified with ASD.

Although children with autism may learn, think, and problem-solve differently than those without, it is essential to understand that these children can still succeed. Many children with autism exhibit strong skills in math and are able to understand complex rules and sequences. They may also possess above-average musical and/or artistic skills. Because of their extreme focus, children with autism are often very detail-oriented and can display extensive knowledge in their favorite topics too.

If you have a child with autism, the key to promoting their strengths and improving their weaknesses is tailoring their learning and environment to them. Many families and parents turn towards a specialized autism treatment center to provide the structure and services they need to assist their children and help them succeed. Here at the Pingree Center, we provide comprehensive treatment and education services for children with autism nationwide. Many find that the support the Pingree Center can provide is unmatched anywhere else and many families have already moved to Utah to seek treatment here.

What Sets Carmen B. Pingree Apart from Other Autism Behavior Treatment Centers?

Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning was first established as a preschool for children with autism in the late 1970s. Over the years, the Pingree Center has grown to include an autism elementary school and is opening an adult autism center coming in 2020.

With a true dedication to helping those with autism, the Pingree Center has become one of the leading autism centers on the state, national, and international levels. Our autism programs provide cutting-edge, evidence-based treatment from certified clinicians. We tailor our programs to each individual child, helping them grow and build foundational life skills. Below are just a few of the many reasons that make the Pingree Center one of the leading autism treatment centers worldwide.

Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA)

Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning utilizes ABA therapy in all of our autism programs. Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is considered the international gold-standard of care in autism therapy. This type of therapy can improve social, communication, and learning skills through positive reinforcement. It is tailored to each child, with an initial assessment that observes a child’s behavior and identifies their strengths, abilities, and challenges. Then a plan is made that focuses on problematic or harmful behaviors with frequent evaluations and assessments throughout.

At the Pingree Center, we have Board Certified Behavioral Analysts (BCBA) and clinicians to supervise behavioral analysis and ensure the experience is enriched and effective for each child. These clinicians help specify treatments for each child, which is the key to successful ABA therapy. The Pingree Center understands that no child is the same and that they should not be treated as if they are.

We also utilize The Rethink Program in our autism programs. This web-based curriculum is based on the principles of ABA, providing training, resources, and learning programs for students, teachers, and parents. Rethink is based on individual learning plans, keeping in line with our philosophy of specialized and individual treatment.

Research Partnerships

Another thing that sets the Pingree Center apart from other autism treatment centers is the access and partnerships our facility has with prominent researchers and institutions. Some of the premier universities we have connections with include:

  • Stanford University
  • University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
  • University of Utah
  • Utah State University

All of these universities participate in groundbreaking research in the field of autism, giving the Pingree Center the ability to be at the forefront of this research. Research at these universities includes genetics, prevalence rates, basic research, medical and behavioral treatments, and educational interventions.

This research helps guide the Pingree Center’s autism programs and curriculum, ensuring that our practices are up-to-date and providing the best possible care. Our autism treatment center also teach our parents and families how to implement treatment methods at home, providing children with stability and predictability.

Nationally Recognized Autism Treatment Center

Many parents and families search for an autism behavior treatment center that will give their child the best support and treatment. At the Pingree Center, we have received multiple awards and recognition that showcases our place at the head of autism treatment.

The Autism Council of Utah awarded Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning the Agency of the Year award in 2016. In 2017 we also won the Heroes Among Us Award for our amazing school autism programs. We are proud to be recognized as a pillar in the autism community and will continue to provide the best treatment in our various autism programs.

Taking Advantage of Carmen B. Pingree Outside of Utah

So, Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning is one of the leading autism treatment centers in Utah, but families located outside of Utah can take advantage of our facility as well. Many families have already moved here to benefit from the autism programs and services we offer. We offer scholarships for families, easing some of the financial burdens of relocating. One of our families had this to say about the support the Pingree Center has provided them:

“Pingree has been the best decision we have made for our son. We put him in the preschool at three years old and he is now nine and still attending. We instantly saw results. The staff is amazing and each child has their own behavior plan. They also teach you how to implement these methods at home. We feel so blessed to be able to attend the Pingree Center.”
